Cast of Pinocchio spread magic in Unit

We were delighted to welcome some of the cast from this year’s Grand Opera House pantomime, Pinocchio, to the Children’s Cancer Unit earlier this month. It brought so much joy and fun to both the children and the staff as the cast paid a visit to the Clinic and ward.

They spent a lot of time talking to the children and their families as well as the staff and were so genuinely interested in the work they do. They had brought a huge sack of light up panto goodies, which brought lots if smiles, as well as a few sword fights with the fairy!

Visits like these are so special, particularly at this time of year, and they help to break up the usual days spent on the ward or visits to clinic.

A big thank-you to Jiminy Cricket, Stromboli and The Blue Fairy – there were smiles all round as everyone enjoyed the magic.

Wishing the panto cast all the best for the remainder of their run- here are a few of our favourite photos from the visit. Check out our socials for even more.

Danielle Smyth and a friend enjoy a quiet moment on a bench beside the iconic Paddington Bear statue, which holds a sandwich as if offering it to passersby. A vehicle hums in the background, adding to this picturesque scene that would make for a perfect Mother’s Day feature.
