The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity Attends NICCC Showcase Event at Stormont

The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity was proud to attend the Northern Ireland Cancer Charities Coalition (NICCC) Showcase event at Stormont yesterday, joining fellow cancer charities from across Northern Ireland to highlight the importance of cancer support services and charity-led care.

The event welcomed Health Minister Mike Nesbitt alongside a number of MLAs who came to show their support for the vital role cancer charities play in supporting patients and families across Northern Ireland.

The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity was delighted to be part of the important conversations taking place around the future of cancer care, family support, and sustainable investment in the sector, while continuing to support children and families connected to the Children’s Cancer Unit at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.

Supporting Children and Families Across Northern Ireland

The showcase event brought together charities under a shared mission – ensuring everyone affected by cancer receives the care, support, and dignity they deserve throughout their journey.

We had the fantastic opportunity to connect directly with key political leaders to share how The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity supports children and families throughout their cancer journey, and the ongoing importance of accessible, compassionate care and support services.

Jane Hoare, Chief Executive of The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity, said:

“Events like the NICCC Showcase are incredibly important in highlighting the vital role cancer charities play in supporting patients and families across Northern Ireland. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage directly with political leaders and share the realities facing children and families affected by cancer, alongside the importance of continued investment in support services. By working collaboratively through the NICCC, we can continue to advocate for better outcomes, improved support networks, and ensure no family faces childhood cancer alone.”

A Collective Voice for Cancer Charities in Northern Ireland

Being part of the NICCC – a unified voice representing 34 cancer charities – allows organisations to advocate collectively for better patient outcomes, and stronger support networks for families affected by cancer throughout Northern Ireland.

As part of the Coalition, The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity is proud to stand alongside organisations committed to improving cancer care, support services, and patient experiences for children and families.

Working Together to Improve Childhood Cancer Support

Events like the NICCC Showcase highlight the importance of collaboration between charities, healthcare providers, and policymakers in strengthening childhood cancer support and paediatric cancer services across Northern Ireland.

The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity was honoured to attend and remains committed to advocating for children with cancer and their families, while continuing to ensure families across Belfast and Northern Ireland receive the support they need when they need it most.
