Job Opportunity: Digital Marketing Assistant

The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity has an exciting opening for a Part-time Digital Marketing Assistant to join our small but busy team, working closely with the Communications & Policy Manager.

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in Digital Marketing and Communications, then this role could be for you, with lots of hands-on experience and opportunities to get involved in exciting and rewarding projects.

This role is offered through the Job Start Scheme and is open to 16-24 year olds in Northern Ireland. Training will be provided on the job.

Role Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Digital Marketing Assistant to join our team. This role is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to gain valuable hands-on experience and a pathway into a career in Digital Media and Communications.

The post-holder will work closely with the Communications & Policy Manager to create and manage compelling visual content, manage social media platforms, develop content plans and calendars and analyse and report on data and performance.

The post-holder must be able to represent, and positively reflect, the values and beliefs of The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity to the public.

Job Responsibilities*
  • Create relevant and engaging content (including photography, video and written posts/videos) for The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity’s social media platforms, in line with the organisation’s goals.
  • Support day-to day activities on social media channels, including content scheduling, monitoring and responding appropriately to enquiries, messages and comments.
  • Collaborate with Charity colleagues and Unit staff, and attend events and activities to gather information for content creation.
  • Create high-quality video content, including editing, adding graphics, and optimising for various social media platforms.
  • Design visually appealing graphics, infographics and other assets in line The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity’s brand guidelines.
  • Assist in the development of communications materials such as newsletters, emailers and promotional materials.
  • Monitor and analyse key performance metrics providing insights and recommendations for optimising effectiveness.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in digital marketing and social media management.
  • Act as an advocate for The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity specifically with funders and supporters, as well as the medical staff, and families we support.
  • Comply with all CCUC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties and specific projects as assigned by management to contribute to the overall aims of the Charity.
Essential Skills*
  • Educated to A-level or above (or equivalent) and GCSE English, Maths and ICT (or equivalent).
  • Experience in using social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn, as well as scheduling tools.
  • Experience in using graphic design tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • A passion for digital marketing and a commitment to staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
  • Creative thinking and the ability to contribute fresh ideas.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple pieces of work and co-ordinate other resources to meet deadlines.
  • A broad base of administrative and IT skills. Good proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent team-working skills and a high degree of personal motivation and a willingness to learn new skills, take on challenges, and undertake relevant training.
  • Ability to work in different environments with a wide range of people and profiles.
  • To be flexible regarding working hours, working to meet the needs and requirements of the organisation.
  • Entitled to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills
  • Proficiency in video editing software.
  • Photography skills preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in using Canva.
  • Knowledge of website content management systems is preferable but not essential as inhouse training can be provided.

Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position for the right candidate.
