Supporting Families

Childhood cancer is not something any family prepares for. The news turns life upside down and can often create a feeling of isolation. We want families to know they are not alone.

The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity hosts family events throughout the year that are specially designed to create a safe environment for children and parents to enjoy themselves and meet other families outside of the hospital setting.

We understand how difficult it can be for families to arrange a day out, particularly with worries about access, cleanliness and infection control. Our events allow children to have fun and enjoy the simple things that others do regularly.

The CCUC has organised trips abroad to help families create lasting memories. In 2017, we brought 25 families to Disneyland Paris – a well-deserved break from treatment at the hospital and a chance to have fun!

The Charity also provides practical support to families in a variety of other ways, based on individual needs and circumstances.
