Job Opportunity: Fundraising Administrator

The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity has an exciting opening for a Part-time Fundraising Administrator to join our small but busy team, working closely with the Fundraising Manager.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to gain experience of the full range of fundraising roles and is an excellent pathway into a career in fundraising.

This role is offered through the Job Start Scheme and is open to 16-24 year olds in Northern Ireland. Training will be provided on the job.

Role Overview

The post holder will provide an efficient and effective administrative support service to assist the Fundraising Manager to achieve their financial targets. They will also be responsible for updating The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity’s supporter database and deliver an excellent standard of donor care, whilst adhering to best practice. The post-holder must be able to represent, and positively reflect, the values and beliefs of The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity to the public.

The perfect candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills, can represent the charity through online and offline correspondence, dealing with fundraising queries and administration. Attention to detail is essential in this role, along with a strong willingness to be helpful to our supporters.

Job Responsibilities*
  • Provide excellent donor care and support including face to face interactions, telephone, email and written communications.
  • Ensure that all supporters, partners and volunteers are thanked in a timely and appropriate manner to help drive supporter loyalty and engagement.
  • Data entry of donations on the database, ensuring the highest level of accuracy.
  • Prepare Fundraising Information Packs, Merchandise and Wedding Favours.
  • Manage Fundraising Materials and order as required.
  • Collate and import data for projects and initiatives and assist with mailings.
  • To assist at Fundraising events as required.
  • To assist with counting monies as required.
  • To co-ordinate JustGiving, Facebook, Enthuse and other platform pages to ensure that all supporters are provided excellent donor care and that their income is coded correctly.
  • Act as an advocate for The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity specifically with funders and supporters of all kinds (corporates, trusts, individuals, community), as well as the medical staff, children and families we support.
  • General administration including including reception support, post and helping to prepare for meetings taking place in the Charity’s offices.
  • Comply with all CCUC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • To perform any other reasonable duties and specific projects as assigned by management to contribute to the overall aims of the Charity.
Essential Skills*
  • 5 GCSEs Grade C or above, of which two must be English and Maths.
  • A broad base of administrative and IT skills. Good proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent telephone, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple pieces of work and co-ordingate other resources to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent team-woring skills and a high degree of personal motivation and a willingness to learn new skills, take on challenges, and undertake relevant training.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in different environments with a wide range of people and profiles.
  • To be flexible regarding working hours, working to meet the needs and requirements of the organisation.
  • Entitled to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience working in a donor care or customer service environment.
  • Full driving licence, with access to a car.

Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position for the right candidate.
