#HenryTheHelper – Cancer doesn’t cancel Christmas

Save a Seat for Henry!

While most of us prepare for Christmas parties and plenty of festive fun, there are many families and children preparing for something very different.

Unlike schools, shops and offices, the Children’s Cancer Unit doesn’t close over Christmas. On the 25th December you will still find many hardworking doctors, nurses and medical staff caring for the young patients who, while in the best possible hands, would rather be at home with their families.

You can help

This year, the Children’s Cancer Unit Charity is asking the public to bear those people in mind when celebrating the festive season.

We can often take it for granted just how lucky we are, particularly at Christmas; with office parties, catching up with friends, Christmas dinner with all the family – spending time together, enjoying the celebrations is the best part of the holidays.

By ‘Saving a Seat for Henry’ while you do, you can help support those less fortunate than us – children just like Henry, who are affected by cancer.

But who is Henry?

Henry was diagnosed with Leukaemia in December 2015. He was just three years old.

He spent that year in hospital and each year since has involved chemotherapy during the festive season.

Having finished his treatment back in March, thanks to the support of the incredible team at the Children’s Cancer Unit, he can’t wait to spend Christmas at home with his family.

This year, Henry is taking time out from the party season to help other children affected by cancer in Northern Ireland.

How to support the campaign:

Consider donating the price of an extra dinner or drink at your Christmas party by texting HENRY, followed by the amount you wish to give, to 70085. (This costs £5 plus a standard rate message.)

You can also donate online here or get in touch for more information on how you can get involved in the work of the Charity.
